Misteri salib Kristus yang menebus dan menyelamatkan semua manusia, dunia, dan alam semesta, kerap disalahmengerti oleh sebagian orang pada zaman mutakhir ini. Mereka mengklaim bahwa tangisan kematian Yesus di atas kayu salib dianggap sebagai ungkapan putus asa, kutukan dan penderitaan orang yang berdosa. Selain itu, mereka berpendapat bahwa dalam peristiwa salib, terjadi keterpisahan dalam misteri Allah Tritunggal. Tentu saja, pernyataan tersebut tidak benar. Sesungguhnya, Allah menyatakan cinta dan kerahiman-Nya yang sempurna dalam peristiwa salib bagi pembaruan hidup seluruh makhluk ciptaan-Nya.
